Welcome to WonHeart TV. Today. I came across an article call How I Stopped Chasing Happiness and Started Enjoying My Imperfect Life by Mai Pham. https://tinybuddha.com/blog/stopped-chasing-happiness-started-enjoying-imperfect-life/
She reminded me of just how unhappy our society is.
Somehow we’ve equated happiness through our achievements like work, relationships, success or how our bodies are suppose to look. We’re always reaching for it and never seem satisfied. Then we blame ourselves and run ourselves into the ground both physically and emotionally only to get up the next morning and ‘do the same thing – over again’. As Dr. Phil would say “how’s that working for you?”
All the sages through time both past and present say STOP and just be with yourself. Take the time to listen. But we don’t. Why?
In Pham’s article she states, “Happiness is not the result of our effort. It cannot be measure by our accomplishments”. So if this is the case what can we do different to get different results. She goes on to state, “Deep down, happiness is love and self-love.” I take that as realizing how beautiful life actually is Right Now.
I personally have been on this journey for some time falling prey to the thoughts in my head that say I’m not good enough. This is where my biggest addiction falls and why I started WonHeart. It was to share with children that negative thoughts are a lie, a trap to hold us back from who we really are.
To pull ourselves out of it I recommend doing a gratitude journal. Start with 3 a day because ‘What you wire you fire’. We see life through our thoughts which become our belief system. Replacing negative thoughts like ‘I’ll never get this done today or achieve this today’ with what you’re grateful for. You’ll be surprised how 3 things will turn into pages plus the added bonus of rewiring your thoughts.
Second thing is to meditate every morning. Not to stop the monkey mind that drives us crazy, but to softly recognize the thoughts that don’t serve us and to replace them with beautiful ones that can spark happiness.
Third one is WATCH less news and replace it with happy programs or music that makes you dance. It won’t hurt to be on social media sites either. When we see others doing well we ten to compare ourselves which can definitely play havoc with how we judge ourselves.
Happiness is NEVER going to be found outside of ourselves. This is a personal journey and it’s one we can all give to ourselves FOR FREE!
